Join Shaver’s Creek staff Alexa Sarussi for a free, in-person morning of nature journaling!Join us in January to explore ferns at the Penn State Herbarium. The museum’s curator, Sarah Chamberlain, will give us a tour of the collection space and then we’ll draw and write from pressed fern specimens from the Herbarium’s collection. We’ll explore local, Pennsylvania ferns as well as ferns from farther-off tropical locales, and microscopes will be available to look closely at the ferns’ spores.
Please note: Detailed directions to our meeting location will be sent via email once you register for this program.
All ages, families, and individuals are welcome. We encourage parents to bring children who express genuine interest in nature drawing, but ask that they monitor their behavior. Youth participants must be accompanied by an adult participant.
