Join us at the Sacred Fire East Tennessee Hearth and home of Firekeeper Mary Beth Robinson where we will learn from Joseph Bailey, Natural Resource Manager of Ijams Nature Center and community member, the importance of and how-tos in restoring our natural habitats free of invasive shrubs and plants.
Schedule:
- 10 - 10:15/10:30: Introduction and instructions (Joseph)
- 10:30 - 11:15: Group work session to experiencing using tools and removing shrubs/plants
- 11:15 - 11:30: Break
- 1 1:30 - 12:30: Complete work in progress
What to Bring:
- Gardening gloves
- Dress for the weather; In case of overcast or light rain, we will meet.
- Water bottle
- Sun hat / sunscreen (optional)
Once you’ve experienced a session, you may want to schedule a group intervention to remove invasive plants and restore native ones where you live. We can schedule additional gatherings in May and in the fall. It’s a great opportunity to come together as community and support our natural world and each other!
