About this Event
Community Growing: Sunday Volunteer Session
We're looking for anyone interested in gardening, organic food growing, conservation, wildlife, permaculture, meeting others in their community and who wants to join a Wandsworth community group.
Our volunteer sessions often include a free workshop linked to sustainable, organic, no-dig food growing and gardening for biodiversity, starting promptly at 10am.
After the workshop, volunteers will join in with tasks such as seed sowing, hedge planting or crop harvesting. Produce is grown at Paradise Cooperative as part of our Community Food Initiative, supporting those who need it in our community.
Important Information
Please wear weather-appropriate clothing suitable for gardening. All necessary equipment will be provided.
All ages and experience levels are welcome to our volunteer sessions but all under-18s must be accompanied by an adult. Children attending are the sole responsibility of their parent/carer throughout the session.
We have a small apiary on site so we advise anyone attending with a known bee allergy or risk of an allergic reaction to bring their Medic*tion with them. We do not keep epi-pens on site and our staff are not liable to administer them because it is a prescribed Medic*tion.
Places are limited so if you cannot attend please make sure to cancel your booking so someone else can volunteer!
If you have any questions at all please email [email protected]. We are happy to help support any accessibility adjustments.
About Paradise Cooperative
The Paradise Cooperative, a charity based in Wandsworth, stands as a testament to the transformative power of community engagement and dedication. Over the past decade, our committed community has transformed an abandoned piece of land into a vibrant and ecologically diverse community garden. Our mission is to enrich the live of local people, supporting our community to connect with nature and others, through sustainable urban growing.
We have established a thriving volunteer programme that emphasises environmental education and grow food with our community, for our community. All produce, grown using sustainable methods, is donated to local social enterprises through our Community Food Initiative. Weekly Mindful Growing sessions encourage wellbeing through connection with nature and others.
Through our pioneering schools programme, Paradise Learning, we work with local schools to providing nature inspired learning opportunities for thousands of children across Wandsworth each year.
