Community Grief RitualMaking Room For Sorrow - Entering The Healing Ground
Long before our culture taught us that grief is something we have to 'get over', community came together to witness and support grief. Grief is not limited to death. It is the loss of home, job, land, the bones of our ancestors, loss of cultures, languages, species, climate change, political divide, divorce, estrangement, and invisible losses that are not recognized by our culture, but still sit heavy on our hearts.
One of the most important parts of meeting grief is being
witnessed and heard.
In community and in ritual we can come together to grieve, whatever it may be. We can ask to be seen, heard and held in community. Ritual can open doorways to ease in our hearts and minds.
Please join Patti Shaffner, Certified Grief Educator, Ritual Tender and Maya Etienne, Grief Coach, for this community grief ritual.
What to Expect:
-Opening Ritual Space
-Agreements for Creating Safety in Community
-Brief presentation on "The Five Gates of Grief" by Francis Weller
-Meditation and Writing Prompts
-Sharing Our Griefs in a Circle of Sound (Our Voices)
-Integration
-Closing Ritual Space
What to Bring:
-Comfortable Clothing - Layers
-Water Bottle/Mug
-Journal or Paper and Pen
-Memento or Symbolic Objects or Photos for the Altar
-Cushion/Mat if you have a preferred one (not required as studio will have these)
