Community Garden Day is an event focused on creating a space for learning about the multiple aspects of gardening ranging from: garden design, plant ID, bee keeping, composting, soil testing, rain water harvesting, seed starts, recycling, reusing materials found around the house, soil health, and traditional plant use.Kids and adults are encouraged to participate in soil paintings, recycling games, making seed balls, seed trades, and attending the various demonstrations on cooking and nutrition with locally found foods. There will also be talks from gardeners about their successes and challenges, all of whom live within the reservation.
Lunch provided and there will be raffles for a variety of items to help get started or to expand a garden in many different ways.
Whether there's an interest in starting a garden or looking for more resources to aid in expanding on your current one, this event is for you!
Please note, the event is available to all of the community members on the Spokane Tribe's reservation as well as visiting tribal community.
