This outdoor resource & vendor & music extravaganza will run from 12 to 5 p.m., followed by a cocktail hour inside the Looking Glass with additional musical performances, 5 to 9 p.m. We would love for you to join us. Megan Hillary & Sigrid Eilertson are organizing this event with the intent of expanding it considerably for the sake of reaching and supporting as many vulnerable communities as we can. Solely at the Ix Art Park this time, we're building an exciting day of art and music with the dual themes of hope and righteous rage on Sunday, December 22nd, the solstice.
- In addition to the art vendors and music performances, we're invoking community action tents where attendees may find resources and a strong sense of acting locally during this time of completely reasonable emotional desolation, such as
# Tech tent that will assist people in removing period and fertility tracking apps from their devices while providing old school solutions (while providing info on safe cyber practices for heightened privacy)
# Self defense demos with courses one may explore
# Legal tent providing free documents for power of attorney, living wills, and similar, all with a notary public poised and ready
# Community building areas for skill shares
# Tool libraries
# Buy nothing groups, and urban gardening
The day is meant to help us channel our fury with actual steps we may take to protect ourselves and our loved ones while hedging our despair. Couples who wish to be legally married before January are more than welcome to take advantage of our interfaith clergy member who will be present all day, and available within a gorgeously made-up environment built for expressly this purpose.
We'll all be your family for your moment, if you wish us to be.
# Moonlight Circus will perform
# Food truck comforts will be served next to the shelter donation table
#Local artisans will provide those much-needed moments to check off that gift list all while surrounded by local music and dance.
# Word from the VA executive director of the ACLU
The Community Festival of Hope creates our light on the longest night of the year, and shows what we have to offer each other.
