About this Event
We’re excited to announce that we’ve secured Heritage Lottery funding to complete the restoration of the Stroudwater Canal, reconnecting it to the National Canal Network. But this project is about much more than restoring waterways — since 2019, Heritage Lottery support has enabled us to deliver a vibrant programme of events, workshops, learning opportunities, and volunteering.
Now we want to plan the next few years together with the community.
What would you like to see happening along the canal corridor that celebrates its heritage and natural environment?
Do you have ideas for activities, events, or partnerships? Would you or your organisation like to co-create something with us?
What are your thoughts on the future of the canal — and how volunteering could evolve once boats are back on the water?
You can get involved in two ways:
- Drop in during one of our consultation days to share your ideas.
- Sign up below to join one of our workshops for a deeper group discussion about what we can make happen together.
The consultation will include three themed workshops:
- Canal Heritage Stories & History – How can we bring the canal’s heritage, both natural and manmade, to new audiences in engaging ways?
- Events & Participation – Share your ideas for activities along the canal, from festivals and sporting events to creative projects. We’ll help you make them happen!
- Volunteering & The Future of the Canal – Hundreds of volunteers have made this restoration possible. What should volunteering look like once the canal is fully restored and boats return?
Your input will help shape the next chapter of this exciting project.
