Join us for our monthly "Community Drum Circle" This is open to all levels of playing whether you're brand new or a seasoned drummer. Bring any instrument you have or several to share. We always have plenty to choose from as well. You can always clap with the music and make your own sounds! We will be having a special guest this month. Ignacio (Iggy) Garcia. He is a native of Peru, South America, and has been immersed in Peruvian Shamanism’s sacred ways and arts. He walks the red road with The Condor Eagle Society and The Native American Church of Nemenhah, holding titles such as Peruvian Shaman, Medicine Man, Minister, Chief, and Elder. His journey has led him to become a spiritual leader in his community in Columbus, Ohio.
Iggy will be teaching a donation based class at 6:30pm before the Drumming begins at 7:00pm. He will be covering some of the basics and foundations of drumming such as finding the heartbeat, making the connection with your drum, and drum circle etiquette.
Drum circles offer several benefits, both for individuals and communities. It helps bring people together, fostering a sense of connection and belonging. It's also great for stress relief, as it reduces tension through physical exercise and increases blood flow. Drumming is a great way to slip into meditation by a repetitive rhythm, which can help improve mood and potentially alleviate symptoms of depression, enhance focus, and promote mindfulness.
This will be a donation based event with 20% of proceeds going to a different charity every month. This month's proceeds will go to The Highland County Homeless Shelter.
Who they are: Here at Highland County Homeless Shelter, we know that sometimes all it takes to change the world is a little support. Since our founding in 2000, we have been determined to make an impact. The core of our efforts is to bring our team’s fresh ideas and passion to the range of activities were involved in. Through all of our endeavors we hope to display the conviction behind our beliefs.

* a blanket or chair to sit on
* water or snacks
