Join artist Rose Popay on Saturday 21st and Saturday 28th October to celebrate the Big Draw 2023 and contribute to a community canvas, using the magnificent abbey as your muse. Themed around "Drawing with Your Senses," this interactive activity encourages you to explore the abbey's awe-inspiring surroundings through your senses and contribute to a community artwork.Rose is excited to come and create some collaborative art works with visitors to Glastonbury Abbey! Young and old and in between are all welcome. Rose has been actively making community engagement art work for over 20 years. For the Big Draw we shall be making canvas art works based on this years big draw theme ‘Drawing with your Senses’.
Bringing your ideas and using the abbey as inspiration, we will draw with marker pens and then paint with vibrant colour washes. We will be creating our art works at the same time as hundreds and thousand other folk join in the big draw across the UK!
Whether you're an experienced artist or simply enjoy doodling, The Big Draw at Glastonbury Abbey welcomes everyone, regardless of skill level. Suitable for children over 5. There will be an alternate drawing activity for the under 5’s! Children must be accompanied by an adult.
Included with your abbey admission, no need to book!
Also as part of the Big Draw initiative we are offering a free drawing activity that encourages visitors to connect with their surroundings using all their senses, throughout October. Free drawing materials will be available for those to use whilst visiting us to help you get involved. To take part in this activity, speak to abbey staff when visiting between October 1st and October 31st.
