About this Event
This month we will be discussing St. Petersburg's Gas Plant Neighborhood through a preview of the forthcoming documetary RAZED which explores the untold story of a once vibrant Black community displaced by a city’s dream of professional baseball team.
Directed and produced by Andrew Lee and Tara Segall of Roundhouse Creative, Razed captures first - hand accounts from former Gas Plant Neighborhood residents, preserving memori es of a close - knit community that was once filled with families, businesses, churches, and a strong sense of belonging before Tropicana Field and acres of asphalt parking lots displaced the community. The documentary was created in partnership with Gwendol yn Reese of the African American Heritage Association of St. Petersburg and is supported by the Foundation for a Healthy St. Petersburg who will lead the discussion.
The public is also invited to attend the free film premiere to experience Razed with neighborhood residents, their family members, and local filmmakers.
