FILM INFO
Like a lot of her family before her, Norma Rae works at a local North Carolina textile mill, with meager pay, long hours and unsupportable working conditions. A rousing speech by labor activist Reuben will inspire Norma to rally her fellow workers behind the cause of unionism, while struggling to break down the long-standing ethnic and racial barriers to class solidarity. Based on the true story of Crystal Lee Sutton and led by the exuberant performance of Sally Field who won the Best Actress Award at both the Academy and Cannes, NORMA RAE is a powerful and moving social drama highlighting the empowering spirit of class struggle.
