Made by the same people who brought you Amelie, this film portrays a post-apocalyptic society where food is scarce and is used as currency.
The apartment building where the film is set is full of weird and wonderful characters, all ruled over by the butcher who owns the building as well as the delicatessen on the ground floor. A former clown becomes the maintenance man after the last one mysteriously disappeared; he and the butcher's daughter fall in love and she tries to foil her father's evil plans.
With a love story at its heart, this film is surreal, a little dark and very, very funny.
