About this Event
We will gather at the Hay Barn to experience a Christmas Eve service in "common union." Common union (or communion) can mean many things from the breaking of bread and sharing of the cup of God's love to the exchange of thoughts, feelings, and experiences on a spiritual level by those who are God's beloved. In this space, all are welcome and the belovedness of all humanity is honored.
Plan to arrive at 4:30 to give ample time to find parking as it will be relatively dark by 5:00 pm. There is limited parking at the Hay Barn. Please reserve it for those who find walking on uneven ground difficult. More details about parking and directions to the farm can be found here.
If you would like to share a song, poem, or reading at the service please text Kara at 651-769-3076. We will end the service with the tradition of passing the light and singing Silent Night.
After the service, we will share a simple meal of soup and bread along with hot beverages and cookies.
What to Bring
- Sign up to contribute to the community meal here.
- A blanket or heavy coat to keep you warm.
- A flashlight (or cell phone) to help you walk back to your vehicle in the dark.
- A mug for hot beverages (we will provide the beverages).
What to Wear
- This is a very casual gathering on a farm, in a barn, in the cold of winter. If it is raining or has rained leading up to the gathering, there will be mud. Wear shoes that will help you navigate gravel paths to your vehicle.
- We recommend wearing layers and a warm jacket.
- You may want to bring gloves, hats, or scarves in case the wind picks up.
We will gather in the Hay Barn surrounded on three sides by bales of hay to help block the wind. Weather permitting, we will have a bonfire just outside the barn. We have 24 chairs and additional seating on hay bales. Feel free to bring a blanket to help you stay warm during the service and meal.
