Vista Health System Community Blood DriveIn partnership with the American Red Cross

In recognition of American Heart Month, Vista Health System is proud to collaborate with the American Red Cross to host a Community Blood Drive focused on compassion, community, and lifesaving care.

Time: 12:00 p.m. – 5:00 p.m.
Location: Vista Medical Center – East
1324 N. Sheridan Rd., Waukegan, IL 60085
Blood donations are essential every day—supporting emergency care, surgeries, cancer treatment, and patients with heart and blood-related conditions. One donation can help save up to three lives, making this a meaningful way to support both loved ones and those across our community.
Donor Types Most Needed:
- All blood types are welcome
- O-negative donors (universal blood type, critical in emergencies)
- O-positive donors (most commonly used blood type)
- Platelet donors, especially important for cancer and trauma patients

Advance registration is encouraged to reduce wait times and help ensure availability.

How to Prepare for Your Blood Donation:
- Eat a healthy meal before donating; avoid fatty foods
-Drink plenty of water before and after your appointment
- Bring a valid photo ID
- Get a good night’s rest prior to donating
- Wear comfortable clothing with sleeves that roll up easily
- Continue taking prescribed medications unless advised otherwise by your healthcare provider
