Join us for Community Art Day and be inspired by the murals featured in our current exhibition, "Repainting the I: The Intermountain Intertribal Indian School Murals". Students from Intermountain painted images of home to feel connected and less lonely.NEHMA’s Community Art Day is inspired by Horse (1972), a painting by Rex Walter on view in Repainting the I: The Intermountain Intertribal Indian School Murals exhibit through January 17, 2026. Horses hold deep significance in Navajo (Diné) culture—used for travel, herding, ceremony, and celebration. Walter’s painting honors this powerful relationship and the vital role horses continue to play in Diné life.
