Join Communitopia and the Equity | Impact Center on Saturday, March 29th at Café Momentum for an evening with Wawa Gatheru, Keynote Speaker for the 2025 Youth Climate Action Summit and Founder of Black Girl Environmentalist.
Wawa Gatheru is a Kenyan-American climate activist and founder passionate about bringing empathetic and accessible climate communication to the mainstream. After starting as a youth climate activist, she founded Black Girl Environmentalist, a national organization addressing pathway and retention issues in the climate movement for Black girls, women, and gender-expansive people.
Gatheru will bring her wisdom to the 5th annual Youth Climate Action Summit, planned by youth climate activists and organized by Communitopia, that involves over 100 youth participants from over 25 schools to develop community and build leadership skills for future leaders in the climate movement.
The evening will begin with a networking social hour with live music followed by dinner. Funds raised from this event will go towards supporting Communitopia’s climate education and action work with youth, educators, and regional school districts.
