About this Event

Healthcare staff work in a very demanding, stressful and sometimes understaffed environment. Pay can often be an issue. Much of this is not within a manager’s control to change. Leaders can change is the way they engage with their team so that they can build strong positive elements into a challenging environment.

Many managers share they respect, appreciate and value their good workers and they regularly let their staff know this. However, many employees share they don’t get much appreciation or recognition and often feel disrespected! How can this be?

There are several common reasons:

  1. The manager may think good thoughts about their employees, but doesn’t actually say them out loud.
  2. The manager is showing respect and appreciation in the ways they know best, and these are not landing well with the employees.
  3. The manager is suffering from the toxic work culture as well, and abdicates their leadership role and fails to support their team.

The focus of the program will be on understanding differences in communication styles, and how managers can adapt their communication to be more effective with their team. We will look at how these changes can improve morale and retention with review of case studies and illustration of the strategies.

BONUS FOR PARTICIPATION!

Prior to the training, participants will be asked to complete a short assessment and will receive a personalized report explaining their communication style. You will better understand your communication style and those you communicate well with and those you may have more difficulty communicating with. This report will be discussed in depth during the program.
