Common Ground
"Burlington is a very small city, and if you wanted something done, more than likely you’d have to do it yourself. Common Ground was a band born from and driven by this d.i.y. ethic we learned from going to punk shows in the early 90’s at the now defunct 242 Main Street. Going to shows there in our early teens was a gateway into a world that stoked ideas and inspired us to make angry music that meant so much to us. Although we only truly existed for two years, that time period was incredibly instrumental in helping each of us explore who we were as people, what we believed in, and how we would continue our lives as individuals. I feel confident in saying that Common Ground was a very special time in our lives, and we have so many special memories, both with each other, and with our community of friends who supported us and cared about our band. In the end, we crafted a few songs together, recorded a demo tape, two 7” records, and had a few extra tracks that also came from those recording sessions. This cassette is some of our best work, the two 7”’s. Eight songs in total, remastered (and given new life and energy) by our dear friend Urian Hackney at The Box in Burlington in the spring of 2025. In these songs, you’ll find five teenage hardcore kids from the mid-90’s trying to find a sound and meaning, expressing themselves as well as they could. These songs are a meaningful time capsule for us, and maybe you’ll also enjoy them and find some meaning in them as well. Thanks for listening. It means a lot to us, even 30 years later.
