Coming to the Table in Minneapolis: White Affinity Circle

(The White Affinity Circle is designed as a healing and learning specifically for participants who identify as white. If you identify as a person of color and are interested in a POC-only Affinity Group, please email us at [email protected] to let us know. If you are interested in a multi-racial circle, we encourage you to check out our Learning Circle or Racial Healing Circle.)

*Due to concerns around COVID-19, this event will be held online via Zoom. A link will be sent to participants shortly before the group meets.

What is Coming to the Table?

At Coming to the Table (CTTT), descendants of those who were enslaved, descendants of slave owners, Indigenous community members, and all those interested in engaging in safe constructive dialogue, are invited to come together to envision Minneapolis as a just and truthful community - one that acknowledges and seeks to heal racial wounds from the historical trauma of slavery, genocide of Native Americans, and the racism these collective traumas continue to spawn. CTTT provides relationship engagement, leadership, resources, and a supportive environment to dismantle racism that is rooted in the United States’ history of slavery and genocide of Indigenous people.

What is the CTTT White Affinity Circle?

The CTTT White Affinity Circle provides a brave, restorative space for white-identifying people to learn and grow together. Through readings, videos and discussions, participants examine the intersectionality of racism, its insidious nature and options for healing historical trauma. The White Affinity Circle pays particular attention to white people's relationship with race and ethnicity, how racial trauma shows up in their bodies and beliefs, the hidden cultural and structural dimensions of racism, their role in transforming racialized systems, relationships of accountability, and more.

Join CTTT Facilitators Cynthia Prosek and Peter Digitale Anderson and other white-bodied individuals invested in transforming trauma into nonviolent power in order to take Minnesota beyond the legacy of enslavement and be part of the solution.
