A celebration of New Jersey’s LGBTQ+ community and beyond in honor of New Jersey Hall of Fame Class of 2021 Inductee, David Mixner. Mixner, a prominent political activist and author, worked throughout his life to bring awareness, activism, and positive change to the LGBTQIA+ community. Mixner, who grew up in southern New Jersey, has a career that spans sixty years. Mixner has written several books, most notably the critically acclaimed memoir “Stranger Among Friends.” Starting in 2011, he became involved in live theater as a playwright and actor in a series of one-man shows and plays, sharing his life story and raising funds to support homeless youth.The New Jersey Hall of Fame is located at American Dream in East Rutherford, New Jersey. This 10,000-square-foot facility offers cutting-edge technology to display and teach about the works of New Jersey greats from the past and present to inspire the future. Open Monday-Thursday from 12-6 and Friday-Sunday from 12-7, the New Jersey Hall of Fame is a one-of-a-kind space that allows individuals to communicate with inductees through holograms and virtual reality exhibits. Mingle with mega-stars on a late-night talk show, sing with NJ icons on the Karaoke Stage, and even blast off into space in a Model T on a 4-D simulation ride.
