Are you the type of person who is fiercely independent? Have you often told yourself that you have everything inside of you and don't need other people to be happy? Do you find it difficult to depend on others and would rather accomplish things on your own?
Perhaps you are terrified of being alone or being rejected by others and cling on tightly to others not giving them the space they need.
These are early developmental trauma responses either avoidant, anxious or both.
When you don't feel like you can depend on others because they will let you down, life can feel like there is no safe place to land. You either give up seeking for help and try to make it on your own or you try to make others give you what you need no matter what.
When you learn when and how much to trust others and that there are those you can depend on, you begin to feel that so much more is possible. You're no longer looking for or waiting for the other shoe to drop or sabotaging your own success.
You were never meant to do it all alone. Doing everything by yourself does not make you more evolved, spiritually advanced or prove you are of greater worth, it just leaves you lonely and without the help you could really use.
Mutual support and cooperation, also means being part of a team that creates a win - win for everyone, not about just getting what you want.
This space is created for you to be with the void, as a loving parent would in a supportive environment.
Bring a mat, a pillow or blanket if you like or borrow some from the studio.
We will start with a grounding exercise, followed by discussion and sharing, then we will create a nurture surround on the floor on a mat for a contemplative dialogue with "what in me feels unsupported". You then will receive or provide for yourself the supporting touch that younger part of you has been yearning for.
We are not here to offer advice on what you need to do or change, just simply to welcome, support and reflect.
When Ray Castellino began doing "womb surrounds" for re-patterning early birth experience, he put in place 8 principles to be applied to his group workshops. He refers to them as the BEBA principles. Building & Enhancing Family Bonding & Attachment.
The principles create a safe container that supports the discovery, repair and integration of early trauma patterns. They’re about rewiring old neural imprints around the time of birth. They are consistently seen to foster cooperation, connection and healthy nervous system regulation for individuals and within families and social groups.
These principles can be applied within families and small groups. It’s a way of shifting the attention from the individual to the energy in the relationships and what is going on in the circle of people and experience the energy of the group as a whole. It is now referred to as a social nervous system or group resonance.
In our circle this week, we will be exploring the second principle of "mutual support & cooperation". How does it feel to be held by life? What is it like to ask for and receive support? How can we be in cooperation with one another? What is my imprint about being supported into this world and working in cooperation with others?
This is a place to re-pattern and re-experience what it means to be "supported". I look forward to welcoming & supporting you in the circle in person.
