Comics Camp: Roxbury

This four-day workshop during April School Vacation Week introduces students to all the steps to making comics: writing, sketching, inking, and assembling a mini-comic. Join local graphic novelist Dave Ortega for a week of cartooning creativity!

Free to attend, registration required, full four-day attendance encouraged.

Guidelines for Participants:

Comics Camp: Roxbury is a free 4-day intensive drawing workshop series with a focus on comics! Led by artist DAVE ORTEGA, with a special guest artist, the workshops will cover character design, setting, dialogue, and storytelling.

No experience necessary! Workshop materials provided.

Comics Camp Roxbury takes place the week of April vacation, April 22-25, on Tuesday to Friday 10:30am-1:30pm, in the Learning Lab on the 2nd floor at the Roxbury Branch Library.

Bonus event:

All participants are welcome to display their comics at the 5th annual Boston Comics in Color Festival which takes place on April 26, 2025 from 10am to 5pm at the Reggie Lewis Track and Athletic Center at Roxbury Community College. One complimentary Comics Camp student table will be provided for the entire camp class. An hourly shift schedule will be available for signups on Friday during class for the Saturday show.
