We invite you to a special week-long CometWatch event. Comet Tsuchinshan-ATLAS (C/2023 A3), co-discovered by the Purple Mountain Observatory in China and the Asteroid Terrestrial-impact Last Alert System (ATLAS) in South Africa, could become one of the brightest objects visible in the northern hemisphere, proving to be one of the most significant celestial events of the year or even the decade.Richland Township Park (6996 N. 32nd St.) offers an excellent view of the western horizon, with little obstruction from trees. KAS members will be on hand to share views of the comet through an assortment of binoculars and telescopes. Admission is FREE, but donations are welcome.
If the sky is mostly cloudy or overcast, we will cancel this special event. For cancellation information, please check our website or social media accounts starting at 5:00 pm on each day of the event.
