Come to the Woods

Join us for "Come to the Woods," a concert featuring the music of Emmy Award-winning composer Jake Runestad and Pulitzer Prize and Grammy Award-winning composer John Luther Adams. Performed by the Areté Vocal Ensemble, under the direction of Wyant Morton.

The program includes "American Triptych" by Jake Runestad, a piece inspired by the writings of Henry David Thoreau (Massachusetts), Wendell Berry (Kentucky), and John Muir (California). Each of the three movements captures a different aspect of our human connection with the natural world, taking listeners on a journey through a rushing river, a peaceful lakefront, and a wind storm in the Western Sierra Mountains.

Additionally, the concert will feature "songbirdsongs" by John Luther Adams, known for his profound and evocative compositions that celebrate the beauty and complexity of the natural world.
