Courage+ is a nonprofit organization that serves LGBTQ+ youth through safe inclusive housing, trauma-informed centered care, resources, and community education. Brad Schlaikowski is the Co-Founder & Executive Director of Courage+. In 2019, Brad and his husband opened Wisconsin’s first licensed group home specifically for LGBTQ+ youth; Courage House. In 2024, the organization expanded with C2 Apartments a transitional living program for queer young adults aging out of foster care or facing homelessness. Today, Courage+ has grown into a statewide movement rooted in advocacy, housing, empowerment, and love.
Alisha Hart is the Director of Programming for Courage+. She joined Courage+ 1.5 years ago with a background in suicide prevention and adult drug treatment court coordination. Her experience in crisis intervention and systems-level collaboration helps shape programming that is both compassionate and impactful, and led to the launch of Courage's +YOU community facing programming. With a passion for creating safe, affirming spaces for youth and communities, Alisha leads Courage+ programs with a trauma-informed and recovery-focused approach.
