Age: Our classes are designed for adults. Teens ages 13-17 may join if there is an adult with them taking the same class.

Discover the artistic fun of creating pottery on the wheel! This hands-on class includes an introduction, guided instruction, wheel-throwing techniques, and pottery-making, followed by a quick cleanup.
Each participant will create two clay vessels using various techniques. In this beginner-friendly experience, you'll learn the basics of centering clay and forming simple shapes. While creativity is encouraged, mastering the wheel takes practice—so intricate or complex designs may not be achievable right away unless you have prior pottery experience or a natural talent for it. The focus is on getting comfortable with the process and creating a solid, basic piece. Here is link to our insta page for a typical class video.
We’ll walk you through each step as you craft your two pieces. At the end of class, you’ll choose from a selection of glazes, and we’ll handle the finishing touches. Your pieces will be carefully dried, bisque-fired, glazed, and fired again for their final transformation.
Once your pottery is ready (typically 4-6 weeks), we’ll notify you by email for pickup.
Do I bring anything : Just your funself....All the tools and equipment along with your clay will be provided: We have aprons but clay is messy so please wear comfortable clothes if you don't mind getting dirty and extra towel wouldn't hurt.
N OTE:
Unpredictability with firing: We like all participants to know that when working with clay there is a chance a pot may face challenges during firing that is not in our control. We try our best to make it right for you on the off chance this should this happen to your piece.
Cancellation Policy: Once registered the slot/s gets taken and is not cancellable or changeable. If there is a running waitlist and your slot/s can be booked by waitlisted individual/s, we can move to different date or cancel the booking and refund after withholding 3% credit card processing fee .
No Show: If you miss your scheduled session, you are considered a no-show and we cannot offer you another date or time and there is no refund provided.
A bout us: McKinney Art House, established in 2005, is a colorful home for creativity, and a place to enrich your artistic side. We offer art and pottery classes for all kids, teens and adults. We have weekly art and pottery classes, summer camps, birthdays and art parties, workshops and homeschool art classes.
We are an art collective with a community of artists, each running their own classes. Many of our artists are award winning and some nationally recognized in their specialized field.
