Volunteer landcarers are the backbone of replanting efforts across Australia - but have you ever wondered what they get up to? Come and see!
Our group is full of lovely people who spend their weekends connecting to nature and doing something practical about putting back local-native plants to provide climate resilience as well as shade, shelter and habitat where we live. We have planted, and care for, close to 125,000 seedlings alongside the Sturt River (Wariparri) in Marion and Holdfast Bay over the past 12 seasons. Why not come and try us?
MEETING POINT
Meet us in the rear carpark (off The Parade West) of our biggest site - Oaklands Wetland & Reserve - 237-265 Oaklands Road. Look for our tool trailer in the rear car park of the reserve.
SPECIAL OFFER - APPRECIATE YOU!
All first-time participants to this activity are eligible for a FREE NATIVE PLANT VOUCHER to buy beautiful local-native plants for your garden at home. (Thanks to the City of Marion community grants program.)
The Spring working bee follows the early morning 'Walk, talk and squawk - Birds of Oaklands Wetland' activity. Participants are welcome to join both the early session, stay for morning tea, then roll into this activity, or to choose one or the other.
You will spend a great morning outdoors, in the fresh air, beneath the gum trees. Expect to see and hear plenty of birds as well and to learn how to slow down for some mindful, meditative weeding.
WHAT TO BRING
The friends can provide tools, equipment, PPE, insurance, supervision, W**d bags, W**d/plant identification and morning tea. You will be comfortable in long sleeves and long pants, closed shoes and a hat. BYO water bottle and any personal medications you may need (eg. asthma puffer).
