About this Event
The WHAT: Our entry level Edged Weapons class. On Day 1, you will learn the realities of surviving an edged weapon attack. The vast majority of knife attacks are AMBUSH ATTACKS. This means that there is a high probability that when one happens, you won’t have your weapon system deployed in time. Learning to STOP the attack using devastating empty hand counter-attacks is the goal of Day 1.
Day 2 gets into the meat and potatoes of our edged-weapon fighting system. You will learn important blade-centric skills like the best places to wear and conceal one, grip positions, body postures, and angles of attack. Students will be drilled on fixed blade and folding-knife deployment, footwork, and agility which will be pressure-tested in peer-to-peer sparring and micro-fights with role-players.
Based on the RIVE Knife Combat System, we’ve taken the BEST techniques from multiple knife-fighting disciplines to create an effective, intuitive, and easy-to-learn system that you can use the day you leave the class. Combative Edge is more than just a martial system, it is an experience.
The WHY: Knife attacks are brutal, unpredictable, and deadly. The anatomy of a knife fight differs vastly from that of a gunfight. Knives are widely available and people can get them at anytime. They can be purchased for under $5.00 and never runs out of ammo, but could end your life just as surely as a bullet can. Learning to better predict and stop a knife attack ups your chances at surviving one exponentially.
Knife-carry is commonplace with self-defenders. Chances are that if you EDC, you carry one. With so many that carry a blade on them every day, so few actually know how to fight with it. We believe if you carry a tool that can be used for self-defense, you should be responsible and proficient with it.
