Seth Haley, better known by his stage name Com Truise, is an American electronic musician and DJ. His stage name is a spoonerism of the actor Tom Cruise. He was born and raised in upstate New York (Oneida, New York) and has worked in a number of places, including Princeton, New Jersey and Los Angeles.
Before 2010, Haley released music under aliases such as Sarin Sunday, SYSTM, and Airliner. In 2010, he launched the first Com Truise release, the Cyanide Sisters EP, which was initially a free download on the AMDISCS label and later reissued by Ghostly International. He even resigned from his job as an art director before the EP’s release. His remix of Daft Punk’s “ENCOM, Part II” appeared on Tron: Legacy Reconfigured.
In June 2011, he released his debut full-length album Galactic Melt. His next major release was In Decay (2012). Subsequent works include Iteration (2017) and Persuasion System (2019). In December 2020, he also released In Decay, Too, a compilation of previously unreleased and archival tracks.
Musically, Com Truise is often classified as synthwave and chillwave, with his own descriptive twist of “mid-fi synth-wave, slow-motion funk.” His music blends 1980s-inspired analog synth textures, electronic beats, and nostalgic, futuristic atmospheres.
Haley’s work often follows a loose narrative arc about a “synthetic astronaut” traveling through space — a storytelling element that threads through many of his releases. Over his career, he has also done remixes for artists like Daft Punk, and his music is represented by Downtown Music Publishing.
