About this Event
On Saturday, October 5, 2024 the Columbia Memorial Space Center will honor Mrs. Ethel L. Lee and 3 generations of Lee family Space & STEAM (Science Technology Engineering Art Math) women. Ethel L. Lee, the 98-year-old Lee family matriarch, affectionately known as “Space Shuttle Ethel," worked at Rockwell International’s North American Space Operations building NASA's first 6 space shuttles: Enterprise, Columbia, Challenger, Discover, Atlantis and Endeavor.
Mrs. Lee's daughter, Linda Lee Njaka worked at Rockwell during the Apollo 11 space mission. Her granddaughter, Daphne Bradford, designed and launched the first AP Computer Science Pathway in South Los Angeles. Three generations of Space &n STEAM women ready to inspire the next generation.
This amazing event will also begin the K-16 Space & STEAM education partnership with the Space Center as we collaborate to ignite a community of critical and creative thinkers.
