About the performers
Columbia Blue is an acoustic ensemble that began playing together in 1972. They were members of Rock Garden, made up of classmates of Shawnee Mission East High School. They reunited in to perform original songs as well as the music of artists ranging from James Taylor to Emerson Lake and Palmer. Columbia Blue is not a tribute band; they place their own unique style on each piece. John Peterson is the lead singer and rhythm guitarist who composed several of the original works. Jim Orr is a savant at the keyboard and vocals, bringing his own artistry to each song. Evan James, the quintessential drummer, is on percussion. Background vocalist Carol Robinson joined the group in 2024 and has been in the Kansas City Symphony the past several years as a vocalist! She completes the three-part harmonies. Their music is a mixture of the past and the future. Come spend an evening in their time machine.
What we offer our patrons
Aztec Shawnee Theater has NO advanced ticketing fees!! The price you see online is the price you pay! Ticket pricing does increase the day of the show. Tables with seats that include admission to the venue are available (while supplies last) either in the VIP section, or near the stage.
Venue seating
The auditorium has 4 ADA wheelchair spots plus 186 seats, including 104 general admission theater seats, 26 reserved theater seats, and 56 seats at 15 different tables.
🚙LOCATION & PARKING We are located at 11119 Johnson Drive, Shawnee, KS. There is parking behind the theater, along the street and across the street. We have a full bar🍺, popcorn🍿& snacks.🏪Outside food from local eateries can be brought into the theater. No outside drinks of any kind are allowed in the theater. Food Trucks are often outside of Transport Brewery. They may change without notice.
