If you’ve had the pleasure of seeing Emergence: Gary Hudson in Black & White, you’ll want to save the date for this full hue exhibition opening February 6th. Hudson (1936-2009) was known as a 'Lyrical Abstractionist' and led a life as interesting and as compelling as his works. A Madison, Georgia resident from 2002 until his death in 2009, Hudson was a part of the California Beat Movement, associated with Andy Warhol and met Joan Baez and Bob Dylan during his Boston years. When Hudson was 20 years old he became a paraplegic following a vehicle accident while he was a U.S. Marine. His art career began soon after the accident in connection with his travels to California, France (where he resided in Cezanne's studio) then to New York where he earned an MFA from the Yale School of Art and Architecture in 1966, applying for entrance into the program when he was 30 years old.
