A Camp Verde Tradition: Watch the young ladies compete for the title of Colonels Daughter, as well as the Little Ones as they compete in the Little Britches and Petticoats contest. The Colonels Daughter contest began in 1956 in a celebration by residents to revive the historic days of the town. The competition is judged on 50% horsemanship and 50% poise and personality, which would be expected of a young woman in the 1800s.
During the event, there will also be the Little Britches/Little Petticoats contest, with categories of Historic Frontier Boy and Historic Frontier Girl for age groups 2-3, 4-6 and 7-12.
