The Shield test looks for colorectal cancer–related DNA changes in the blood and offers a more convenient option for patients who may prefer not to undergo stool-based testing. A positive result would require follow-up with colonoscopy. This test is not intended for individuals with a personal or family history of colorectal cancer, high-risk conditions (such as Crohn’s disease or ulcerative colitis), or those who recently had a positive colorectal screening test.
