Our CS'ers and we will have breakfast at our flat in Köln-Nippes ( http://goo.gl/maps/BmHfJ ), WHERE SPACE IS LIMITED (HENCE: get in contact to make sure we have enough space left if you wanna join...)!
From there we should leave by 11:00am to take metro #15 to CHLODWIGPLATZ [ ClohdvigPlatz ] tram stop ( http://goo.gl/maps/eOHTY ) to go to a pub which is our first stop every year on that Thursday. But we'll have to be there in time if we don't want to stand in line for hours to get in! That's really why we have to get up so early!!! And that's also why during Carnival you should in general never leave a cramped pub once you're in - it'll take hours to get back in later!!! On the way to this first pub when we walk down the Severinstraße [ SairverReensStrusser ] we'll get a first taste of what you'll experience for the next days: Thousands of dressed up people everywhere!
So in case you lose the group on the (short!) way: we'll make (if-need-be: fight) our way thru the crowd down the Severinstraße to where after 400m there's a sign to the "Krankenhaus der Augustinerinnen" hospital telling us to turn left into Jakobstraße which will lead right into "Haus Wirtz" [ House Veerts ] ( https://maps.app.goo.gl/ebQjvdsEKYcbsxNr5 ).
If you wanna watch the official opening of street carnival or even a first parade on the first day already then you can go back from "Haus Wirtz" to the medieval "Severinstor" [ SairverReensToar ] (Severin's Gate) ( http://goo.gl/maps/swIqy ) at Chlodwigplatz where the play starts at 13:30 (not sure it that makes any sense at all for anyone who doesn't understand Kölsch - or even no German!) or to Severinstaße for the parade starting FROM the "Severinstor" at about 14:30 ( https://www.koeln.de/karneval/jan-und-griet/ ).
BUT BEAR IN MIND THAT TO GET BACK INTO "Haus Wirtz" AFTERWARDS YOU MIGHT HAVE TO QUEUE FOR A LONG TIME (easily 30-60 min or more)!!!
We'll stay at Haus Wirtz for 2, 3 hours... Nothing really planned after leaving that pub - though we might swing by the legendary "Lotta" (simply because it's so legendary!): https://goo.gl/maps/cbZwsFcXLC22 !
For the "evening program" we'll be in Altstadt: "Carnival 2026 THU 12 02 EVE Altstadt" - ☞!ⒻⒾⓃⒹ ⒶⓁⓁ ⒸⓈ&ⒻⒷ-ⓁⒾⓃⓀⓈ ⒷⒺⓁⓄⓌ!☜), we'll most likely WALK there since it's not a long way ( https://maps.app.goo.gl/Fe5DEpm2XXtDAGX99 ) but if the weather is too shitty for that we'll take public transport from CHLODWIGPLATZ tram/metro stop (with #15 to FRIESENPLATZ and then 5 to ALTERMARKT).

From ABOUT noon till ABOUT 3pm at HAUS WIRTZ.
So if you arrive EARLY ENOUGH TO DROP OFF YOUR STUFF WITH YOUR HOST BEFORE about 10am, then do that!

If you can make it to our flat in Cologne Nippes (just north of the city center) before 11am, then come there (☞FIND LINK for how to get from LOHSESTR. metro stop to my place ABOVE!☜ ) AFTER HAVING STORED YOUR STUFF, to perhaps still have some breakfast with us or at least walk together with us to the pub.
Otherwise AFTER HAVING STORED YOUR STUFF go straight to the pub:

If you stored your stuff at main station's automatic locker machines, then you can always pick it up at night when you go home. THAT WILL BE MOST PROBABLY AFTER MIDNIGHT - so IF YOU CANNOT use the automatic locker machines but have to use the "Gepäckcenter" counter at the Douglas perfumery instead (IF that still exists...), then also consider bringing your stuff to some other place for at that counter you can only pick it up the next morning...
