ABOUTThis EVENT is for potential crew on Riptide50 Strum for the Saturday Aril 26, 2025 WVYC Halibut Bank/Collingwood Channel Race. This course alternates each year between the Halibut Bank (even years) & the Collingwood Channel (odd year) marks, although Strum & most Div-0 boats would prefer to race Halibut EVERY year, since neither mark is manned.

ABOUT (HOST COMMENTS)
Celebrate spring with a day of racing in beautiful Howe Sound and around the Strait of Georgia. This event alternates between Collingwood Channel and Halibut Bank/Popham Island. Organizer email, [email protected]
ABOUT (COLLINGWOOD CHANNEL)
The Collingwood Channel race takes boats through Collingwood Channel and along the shore of Bowen Island. PHRF and ORC competitors will race an approximate 16 NM course and the Sport boat fleet can enjoy a day of round the cans.
ABOUT (HALIBUT BANK)
The Halibut Bank course takes ORC Divisions 0, 1, and 2 south of Passage Island to the Halibut Bank ODAS buoy (aprox 34nm). For PHRF and Sportboat the fleet rounds Popham and Little Popham Islands (aprox 17nm).
ABOUT (VARC)
This event is part of the Vancouver Area Racing Council's Distance Series. Strum will be registered for the ORC Division-0 Course. Strum’s skipper is the 2025 VARC.bc.ca Div-0 Rep.
ABOUT (SKIPPER COMMENTS)
This is one of our rare fun day races. With a 6pm time limit, it is possible to have breakfast & dinner at home. If winds are moderate (+10 knots TWS), we can be finished as early as 2pm. Strum would prefer to always go to Halibut Bank (34nm), as we deem the Collingwood course too short (16nm), with a high wind dangerous mark rounding & competitor traffic for the 4 local Div-0 water-ballasted boats (Koa/Longboard/Mach-2/Strum). Hopefully WVYC will consider running Div-0 to Halibut Bank every year, since both marks are unmanned.
ABOUT (STRUM DIVISION ZERO)
Strum will race in the ORC Division 0 for this fun VARC day race. Strum rates 463.5 ORC (-77 PHRF-BC).
