Collective Play3 days of group work with Peter Sweet

When you watch a group perform that is really in sync, it can seem like they have one brain and many brains at the same time. The individuals are able to follow their own impulses, yet the group supports every action that happens on stage. There seems to be no leader and many leaders.
When you develop this kind of connection with your partners on stage you unlock a source of collective intelligence that allows you to improvise together and create the focus that makes everything that you do on stage have more impact.
Over three intense days I will work with the class as I would with a professional company, teaching how to develop this kind of group focus in any collective.
We will work on:
“Radical listening” – your super powers of impossible knowing
Instant choreography that comes from collective instinct
Using the architecture of the group to create dramatic tension
Creating silence together on stage
Using rhythm to develop action
Creating focus for a solo in a collective piece
Come alone, or bring your collective.

No prior experience necessary – the only requirement is a love of play!

About Peter:
Peter Sweet is a director, teacher and performer of physical theater and contemporary circus. Working professionally since 2000, Sweet has performed over a thousand shows in more than 20 countries.
Sweet studied physical theater at the Helikos International School of Theater Creation in Florence, Italy, contemporary and classical dance at the Salzburg Experimental Academy of Dance in Salzburg, Austria, circus at Ecole du Cirque Zofy in Sion, Switzerland and is a certified teacher of the Alexander Technique as well as Wutao, a French movement art based on breath and undulation.
He is currently based in Berlin Germany, where he directs professional companies, teaches workshops and creates new works of inspired madness. Sweet has been a guest teacher at the Stockholm University of Dance and Circus (DOCH); the Zurich University of the Arts (ZHdK); Fonty’s Netherlands; Die Etage, Berlin; and the Bayerische Theaterakademie August Everding in Munich. In his free time he reads, flies kites, dances in the kitchen, and watches Muppet show re-runs.
