This workshop is structured to provide both foundational knowledge and practical experience. The morning session will feature a presentation and group discussion, while the afternoon will focus on live demonstrations and hands-on practice.
Topics covered will include:
➡️The purposes and uses of object photography
➡️Policies and strategies for successful digitization
➡️Digital file preservation
➡️Cameras and other equipment
➡️Photo editing techniques
➡️Tips for accomplishing all of this on a small budget
Participants will have the opportunity to work at several photography stations set up for capturing both 2D and 3D objects—including photos, negatives, tiny items, and even furniture. Attendees are welcome to bring their own cameras or use those provided. Led by Corinne Midgett, High Point Museum Registrar, with retired UNCG staff photographer Dan Smith also sharing his expertise.
