Participants:
is the Director of the Oral History Lab at University of Puerto Rico at Mayagüez, an interdisciplinary space that explores storytelling as an active response to disaster and injustice.
is Assistant Professor of History at Marquette University. A historian of twentieth-century U.S. migration, labor, and religion, his scholarship focuses on the development of Latino communities in the U.S. Midwest.
teaches US History and Political Science courses at Elgin Community College. He developed college's first Latinx and Indigenous history courses and currently co-directs the Center for Civic Engagement.
is a Graduate Research Fellow at the Oral History Lab and Teaching Assistant at University of Puerto Rico at Mayagüez . Native to Camuy, Bryan Ramos Romero is a senior student majoring in English with a teacher certification. He is a fellow of the Humanities Action Lab’s Climates of Inequality project.
is Professor of History and the Vice Chancellor for Diversity, Equity and Inclusion at the Univesity of Wisconsin Milwaukee. Her documentation of Hmong refugees from Laos who became displaced and dispersed across the globe rely on oral history since these “ordinary lives” are not found in formal archives.
is a historian of everyday places and ordinary people. He examines the cultural landscapes of immigrant communities and interprets cities from the bottom up by engaging the voices and histories of urban communities traditionally ignored in official narratives.
