About this Event
Join multidisciplinary artist Gemma Barnett for an hands-on session experimenting and mark making with a range of different materials before creating your own pottery themed greetings cards series.
Workshop overview:
• Morning - A short introduction to Gemma's art practice followed by a demo of the workshop materials.
• Time for you to experiment with applying gouache and oil pastels to paper. 1:1 rotating monoprinting sessions using acrylics with Gemma.
• Afternoon - After lunch we will look through magazines to find patterns, colours and textures of interest.
• Gathering your experimental pieces from the morning & the magazine clippings you will piece together your own personal range of pottery inspired greetings cards.
This workshop is aimed at all levels giving complete beginners to seasoned artists a space to play and experiment.
All materieals are provided, although bringing along an A4 folder for transporting your work is advised. A small range of pots and books will be available as sources of inspiration.
Artist bio:
Gemma Barnett is a multidisciplinary artist who produces specialist greetings cards and art prints. Her works often depict bold floral arrangements positioned in detailed ceramic pots, each design is carefully created by hand using paper cutting, collage and printmaking techniques. She is heavily influenced by artists such as Vanessa Bell whose expressive decorative style has left a huge mark.
Gemma studied BA (Hons) Interdiscipliary Art & Design at Leeds Art of Collage graduating in 2014. Her cards and prints can be found stocked in independent shops and galleries in the UK with a growing market across Europe.
She works from her home studio in Meanwood, Leeds.

Workshop and course bookings can be cancelled and refunded up until 7 days before the scheduled start date. As materials and equipment are ordered in advance, we regret that refunds cannot be offered less than 7 days before the workshop date. Please note that Eventbrite’s booking fee is non-refundable.
If we need to cancel the course for any reason your ticket will be fully refunded.
