About this Event
Join us for a FREE, Long Stitch Journal Making Workshop at the Pittsburgh Center For Creative Reuse!
This workshop will teach you how to make your own collaged covers (and pages) for your own long stitch bound journal! We will practice artistic binding techniques, while exploring our own creativity. Feel free to bring any scraps, trinkets, and threads you want to incorporate.
Creative Reuse is a supportive space, open to folks with any level of artistic ability. Our goal is to foster expression and creative community, not perfection. Just bring an open mind– we’ll cover the rest.
This workshop is the fourth of our Guest Teaching Artist workshop series where we'll bring in a different local artist to host a workshop on the second sunday of each month. This months' Guest TA is Nova (she/her). Nova is a bookbinder with close to a decade of experience. Nova is very traditional in how she makesmost of her journals, but enjoys pushing boundaries by mixing binding methods, introducing other mediums, and drawing on her extensive background as an overall fiber artist. Nova was born around 30 minutes outside of Pittsburgh, and dedicates the time she has outside of work to build a stronger artist collective here.
