About this Event
A collage (from the French: coller, to glue) is a work of formal art, primarily in the visual arts, made from an assemblage of different forms, thus creating a new whole.
Collage/mixed media is a very expressive way to create layers and depth in your artwork. During the workshop you will explore transfers, painting, color and sanding or "distressing" paper through the use of a wide range of materials to create interesting fragments of visual information. Through demonstration, workshop participants will learn techniques such as layering of different materials and various methods of applying mixed-media to add interest to your work.
This workshop provides an opportunity to develop your own visual vocabulary, experiment with different media and explore techniques and ideas to create spirited and innovative collages while learning about color, composition, texture, shape and execution. At the end of the day you will have created a collage … “a new whole” .
Opportunity will be provided to have your work critiqued in a supportive environment.
