Collage Journey: Intuitive Art for Soulful Connection

What beauty seeks expression through you?
A guided collage workshop exploring intuition, imagination, and creative expression through inner imagery and hands-on art-making.
Imagery has the power to work beneath the surface of conscious thought, revealing insights that words alone often can’t reach. In this workshop, participants will be guided through a gentle, eyes-closed visualization to connect with their “inner vision,” then translate what arises into intuitive collage.
The process emphasizes curiosity over technique—allowing images, textures, and symbols to emerge organically rather than being planned in advance. We’ll close with time for reflection and optional sharing of both the artwork and the creative process.
Workshop Structure:
- Opening circle and brief warm-up collage exercise
- Guided inner-imagery journey (participants recline with eyes closed while the host drums + rattles softly to support focus and imagination)
- Extended intuitive collage-making session
- Group reflection and closing circle
The inner-vision practice draws from traditions found across cultures and is known in the Western psychological lineage as Active Imagination, developed by Carl Jung. The guide’s approach is informed by teachers including Robert Moss (Active Dreaming) and Bill Plotkin (Soulcraft).
Participants will leave with 1-2 original collage that can serve as a tangible expression of inner insight.
Core Practices
- Attuning to intuition
- Creating with playful care
- Enjoying the unfolding process
All art supplies provided (bring your own if you wish).
Closing is followed by a simple veg-friendly potluck dinner—welcome but not required.
About Your Guide
Christopher Collins is a local artist who has worked with collage as an accessible creative form for nearly 20 years. He brings a grounded, imaginative approach to guiding inner-vision journeys, supporting participants in accessing creativity as an innate and renewable resource.
Investment: $20 (sliding scale: $25-$15)
FAQ:
Q: Do I need any art experience to participate?
A: No! Anyone can do this practice.
Q: How intense is the guided journey?
A: Participants will be offered a structured narrative before to guide them, but individuals can decide their own journey. The journey itself will include light drumming / rattles, but will be non-verbal. It will last about 10 minutes.
Q: Is participation in the inner journey required, or can I opt out?
A: you can always opt out, keep your eyes open, move your body, or adapt however you feel most comfortable.
Q: What’s the group size?
A: While we can't predict exact turnout, we anticipate it will be an intimate group of 6-12 people.
Q: Will there be guidance during collage-making, or is it mostly self-directed?
A: There will be some techniques offered by invitation, but participants decide how they make their art.
