The Refuge is encouraging Johnson and Marion County residents to bundle up and raise cold, hard cash for The Coldest Night of the Year (WALK). A family-friendly winter fundraising walk for Johnson and Marion County homeless, hungry and hurting, the WALK takes place on the evening of February 22, 2025.The intent of walking during the winter is to raise awareness of what many in our community experience as night approaches and temperatures drop. Typically February has the coldest days of the year.
The walk begins and ends at Center Grove Church, located at 2340 S. SR 135, Greenwood, Indiana. Participants will walk a 2km or 5km route that are safe from street traffic and can warm up with toasty drinks at rest stops along the way, and will be able to celebrate their efforts together at the finish line with warm soup provided by Keevers Kitchen.
This is The Refuge's 2nd year taking part in the Coldest Night of the Year, and we are aiming to raise $20,000 for their work with people experiencing hunger, hurt, and homelessness in Johnson and Marion County. We are making a goal of 200 walkers to participate and hope you will join us.
