Cold Process Soap 101

This hands-on class will guide participants through the art and science of handmade cold process soap making.
Participants will learn the basics of creating natural nourishing soaps using a combination of coconut oil palm oil shea butter and castor oil. Basic understanding of the fatty acid profiles of different oils to mastering the saponification process students will gain the skills to craft their own soap creations using two given recipes - a basic recipe and a butter recipe. In-depth fatty acid profiles and lye calculators WILL NOT BE TAUGHT (in this class).
You will take home a 1 pound 8 ounce wooden soap box with silicone liner and a milk carton with approximately 1 pound 8 ounces of soap two cold process recipes and a hand out of the basic process of cold process soap making. Soap equipment molds, scientific scales, safety face shields, or goggles, latex gloves (if you are allergic to latex please bring your own gloves), raw materials (oils scents), exfoliants/additives will be provided. Colorants WILL NOT BE TAUGHT (in this class).
