About this Event
This class will cover the basic techniques of coil basketry and how it can be used to make a wide variety of baskets, hats and sculptural art. We will be using 4 different plants that are commonly found in urban areas and discussing how to harvest, prepare, and weave these plants in the coil style. Each student will have the opportunity to work with the provided plants and start their own basketry project.
Due to the length of this class, it is unlikely students will be able to leave with a finished basket, but information will be provided on how to continue and finish projects outside of class.
What to bring:
- Camp chair (or something you will be comfortable sitting on for several hours)
- Water
- Lunch/Snacks
- Small sewing scissors or nail clippers (there will also be some available)
- Awl (optional)
