About this Event

Topic:

Much thought and effort goes into how we expend our resources, whether they be financial, time, or physical, yet very little consideration goes into how we utilize our cognitive resources. The rapid climate of information overload, constant distractions and unpredictable change across environments that lead to profound brain drain necessitate a strategic shift in our thinking. How can we optimize our mental energy? How can we better leverage our cognitive capital to be deeper, more innovative thinkers? How we operate in our environment and drop the toxic habits can help us thrive and potentially protect against lost capacity.

Bios:

Stephen White is Chief Operating Officer of Center for BrainHealth®, a translational research center of The University of Texas at Dallas. With more than 15 years of experience as an executive in commercial healthcare products and service, combined with experience as a commercial attorney and CPA, Stephen White joined the Center for BrainHealth to lead its commercial operations and help bring science-based innovations, technologies and strategies to the public. Previously, he served as Vice President of Global Sharing Solutions for Leica Biosystems, a Danaher Life Sciences company, and helped commercialize innovative digital pathology solutions to improve patient access to subspecialty expertise. Steve was also head of Corporate Development and General Counsel for Aperio Technologies before Danaher acquired Aperio in 2012. Before moving to the corporate world, Steve had almost 20 years of experience in private legal practice in Arizona, partly as Senior Counsel at Squire, Sanders & Dempsey, before opening his own practice focused on health care and specialty finance. Prior to that, Steve practiced as a CPA and business consultant for the audit team at Coopers & Lybrand.

Jennifer Zientz, Director of Programs and Head of Clinical Services at Center for BrainHealth®, focuses on the translation of BrainHealth research to improve how people think, work and live. Jennifer administers performance-based assessments and facilitates training workshops that empower individuals across the lifespan to take the lead in strengthening their focus, mental efficiency, reasoning and possibility thinking. She has facilitated SMART™ Brain Training for specialized groups – including military leadership, active-duty special operators, veterans and their spouses, law enforcement officers, corporate executives and leadership teams, community leaders, athletes and graduate students. Her career in clinical research and translational application has contributed to the growing knowledge of the impact of cognitive training in health. Jennifer’s early work focused on the important role that complex language processing plays in diagnosis and treatment of dementias. She also worked to define best practices for speech-language pathologists in the path of care for individuals with Alzheimer’s disease.
