Join us for a light brunch, bottomless coffee, and the chance to hear three amazing authors introduce their newest titles! Buttonwood Books and Toys is thrilled to host Marjan Kamali, THE LION WOMEN OF TEHRAN; Lewis Robinson, THE ISLANDERS; and Sarah Sawyer, THE UNDERCURRENT.
About the Authors:
Marjan Kamali was born in Turkey to Iranian parents and spent her childhood in Kenya, Germany, Turkey, Iran, and the United States. She holds degrees from UC Berkeley, Columbia University, and New York University. She is the 2022 recipient of the National Endowment for the Arts Creative Writing Award. She is the author of The Lion Women of Tehran, The Stationery Shop, and Together Tea. Marjan lives with her husband in the Boston area. They have two children.
Lewis Robinson is the author of Officer Friendly and Other Stories and Water Dogs, and he is the winner of a Whiting Award, the PEN Oakland/Josephine Miles Award, and a Fellowship from the National Endowment for the Arts. His writing has appeared in Sports Illustrated, The New York Times Book Review, and on the National Public Radio program Selected Shorts. He teaches at the University of Maine at Farmington and lives in Portland, Maine with his family.
Sarah Sawyer is an English teacher who lives and works at a boarding school in Western Massachusetts where she finds endless humor and inspiration in her colleagues and students. She is a graduate of Amherst College and the Bread Loaf School of English. The Undercurrent is her first novel.
