When guitarist Joe Carter and his Samba Rio Quarteto hit the stage on March 7, the Northwest Park coffee house will transform into a lively Rio de Janeiro jazz club. Carter is a Connecticut-born jazz guitarist who fell in love with Brazilian music on a life-changing night in Rio, and he’s since become “one of the premier samba jazz guitarists either north or south of the border.” (Connecticut Public Radio). His quartet (here appearing as a “Quarteto”) celebrates the heart of Brazil’s music – from breezy bossa nova and rhythmic samba to sultry Latin jazz and beyond.
