WOMEN IN BUSINESS COFFEE CONNECTIONWork, Wine & What Ifs: A Life in Lyrics and Lessons
Proudly supported by Drive Accounting
When Jo Mills first came to Aotearoa, she was fresh out of university, pursuing the gap year that she’d not taken earlier. While wine was already the focus of her travels, she had no intention of putting down roots on the other side of the world, personally or professionally.
Two decades later, Jo’s still here and, along the way, has steered Rippon through exponential growth and the Covid years, navigated the blurred lines of work and family life and leapt into the unknown by setting up a one-woman communications business.
Music’s always been a core part of Jo’s and her family’s world so it’s no surprise that it’s songs that have resonated and songs from defining moments of her life that will shape Jo’s talk.
Against a backdrop of tracks that have charted her path so far, Jo will talk about what’s got her to where she is now, including:
Trusting an impulse, even when you’re not impulsive
Overcoming Mummy guilt and a shifting sense of self
The redundancies of whatifs
The gift of tunnel vision and purpose
Becoming the silver linings fairy
With honesty and humour, Jo’s story explores the courage it takes to keep moving forward — and the power of the right song at the right time.
